Some Updates about Denia

A Mediterranean city in Spain, Denia is naturally a magnet for British expatriates as tourists. British folks come here because of the very temperate climate during summer as temperatures can rise up to 23 degrees Celsius. They may not want to go to the tropics – another hot summer destination on the other side of the world – because it’s too hot in there.

As an important Mediterranean port city, Denia in Alicante is now planning to expand its harbor. In fact, the two largest banks in Spain have signified their intention to jointly finance the expansion. These are CAM and Bancaja. The plan is ambitious – to make the existing piers the biggest pleasure or tourist harbor in Europe. Whereas other ports in the world like the one in Quebec pride themselves as being touted as the largest cargo seaport in North America, the one being planned in Denia is definitely very different. Denia’s new tourism-induced seaport will feature all the amenities for tourists. It will rival the pleasure port in Dubai although they are not necessarily competitors because the port in Dubai caters to visitors in the Middle East. And Spain is one continent away. That is why if these plans don’t miscarry, Denia will become a harbinger of good economic news as far as Spain is concerned. Virtually all of the city will definitely improve. A total of 9,000 moorings will be created to the tune of a whooping 4 million euros. The 9,000 moorings exclude those catered only for intercontinental cruise ships.

As we all know, the boost of the tourism industry in every city in the world is synonymous too to the booming of its real estate industries. Despite the continuing crunch of US properties overseas, Spain’s has never been in the backburner. In fact, Spain has even benefited from the mortgage crisis in the United States with more and more property investments transferred across the Atlantic, reaching as far as Philippine shores. Buoyed with these developments, Spanish authorities have consistently encouraged developing more the properties industry in the country. This is particularly true in the city of Valencia. Valencia has secured one Grand Prix in the Formula One series and one stopover of the America’s Cup. That is why more and more apartments and condominiums along the urban thoroughfares in Valencia which will be converted into a Formula One race track next year have sprouted up. The same is true for motels along the harbor in Valencia. Definitely, Denia is not being left behind. A total of 5,000 apartments are in the offing to be constructed along with the harbor expansion. These apartments are sort of government projects because they will be erected parallel to the port. The total area of the port expansion is at five million square meters.

The marina will also have nautical facilities which will include a nautical school. It will have a very spacious convention center and boasts of its own hospital in the campus. It will have a recreation center ideal for every sport known to Spain and its underground garage can accommodate up to 11,000 vehicles.
